Andrei is 4 years old from Pădureni, Timiș County. He has been diagnosed with metopic and sagittal craniosynostosis, meaning the bone in his forehead fused too early. This condition can be corrected with surgery, but in his case, the first surgery did not succeed. Now he needs to undergo surgery again, but it costs 28,242 euros.
Without this surgery, Andrei will no longer be Andrei – the bones of his skull are pressing on his brain, causing severe pain. His brain is being compressed, and what could follow is terrifying: excruciating pain, loss of motor function, inability to walk, blindness, cognitive impairment, and eventually, even the inability to breathe.
The family traveled to France, where they found a specialist willing to help them, but the surgery costs 28,242 euros. The French doctor, after seeing Andrei’s condition, said: “Emergency surgery – he is already neurologically affected. We don’t have anymore time”. Thanks to the generosity of supporters so far they have raised 5,859 euros (through Asociația Noel and the rest from other sources), but Andrei urgently needs help with the rest of the funds.
